Enchanting Art: Saito Sho’s Whimsical World Lands in Singapore!

Remember those adorable cat paintings from the viral “Cats in a Floating World” exhibition? The artist behind them, Saito Sho, has brought his charming creations to Singapore for his first-ever overseas solo show! “Wisps in the Enchanted Garden” at I.F. Gallery is a must-see for art lovers and anyone who needs a dose of delightful whimsy.

Saito Sho’s art is like stepping into a vibrant children’s storybook. His simple yet colourful paintings tell captivating stories, often with surprisingly insightful takes on human connection.

What makes this exhibition extra special? Saito Sho himself visited Singapore, infusing his new pieces with local flavor. Think pandas splashing in the Marina Bay Sands infinity pool, the Merlion hanging out with ducks, and rabbits dancing against the stunning Singapore skyline. You’ll even spot familiar favorites like durian and stingray alongside iconic Japanese symbols like Ultraman and cherry blossoms.

But the magic doesn’t stop with the visuals. Be sure to read the witty descriptions accompanying each artwork! They’re short, sweet, and add a whole new layer of charm. One example, “Penguin Fight,” shows two penguins squabbling over a tiny fish, oblivious to the much bigger catch they’re holding.

Beyond paintings, Saito Sho also crafts unique wooden animal sculptures, each one meticulously handcrafted and painted. Both the sculptures and paintings are available for purchase, so you can take a piece of this enchanting world home with you.

And don’t miss the towering Ship’s Cat statue by Kenji Yanobe! Plus, those super popular Ship’s Cat gachapon figures that sold out quickly? They’re back in stock!

“Wisps in the Enchanted Garden” is open daily from 12pm to 8.30pm until May 30, 2025, and entry to I.F. Gallery is free. It’s the perfect art adventure for a lunch break or a quick stop between cafe hopping. Speaking of cafes, I.F. Gallery is conveniently located next to Koko Café & Patisserie and close to other popular spots like Corner Corner and Butter Tgt. Don’t miss this chance to experience Saito Sho’s whimsical world!
